I discovered Knapsack after falling in love with The Jealous Sound back in 2000. The vocalist, Blair Shehan is in both bands. His voice is one of my favorites.
For the Lite Brite piece, I made a preliminary design that was mostly green. I then opted to flip the Lite Brite vertically, and closely followed the hummingbird colors from one of their Instagram posts. For the final image, I used Photoshop to slightly edit the contrast and added a pattern to the background that was inspired by art from their last release, This Conversation Is Ending Starting Right Now.
Recently, Knapsack announced a pre-release for all of their albums, remastered on vinyl. I reached out and asked if there were any plans to release the mastered versions on CD. They replied and said nothing is planned, but that I can probably find the originals for 99 cents on Ebay (with a wink). It made me laugh and also made me a little sad.
