EVE 6 - Horrorscope Lite Brite Art

I spit and stutter stuff and clutter worries in my worried corner / Maladjusted just untrusted rusted sometimes brilliant busted thoughts / Think I’ll stay for a while / I’m intrigued and I’m / Red as a newborn white as a corpse

Hands down my favorite EVE 6 release, Horrorscope contains some of the most clever song lyrics ever.

From Rescue to Promise to On The Roof Again to Sunset Strip Bitch to Amphetamines to Nocturnal to Girl Eyes, from start to finish I can listen to it all (though I regularly skip Here’s To The Night, my least favorite track on the record.)

Long ago during a garage sale, my uncle burned a copy of this album for my sister. Eventually the Smart and Friendly-brand disc made its way to my own collection, and has been spinning often in my car ever since (until last November when I acquired a car without a CD player.)

For this post I decided to finally purchase the official album, and I’m glad I did.

Always an orange fan, the colors of the Horrorscope album cover certainly pop. The liner notes credit a few different people and organizations for the art, including Randy Green (illustrations), Digital Broome (coloring), Brett Kilroe (art direction), Dave Gottlieb (artist development), and Marina Chavez (photography). Major props to Green for the inconic portrait on the cover, and for the superhero-esque scene that spans four pages of the booklet.

I was also thrilled to discover that all the lyrics were included at the end of the pages.

In 2015 I got to photograph the band at the Under The Sun tour. Before the show they played a special three-song acoustic set for some fans. It was a really neat experience. The following year I saw them play at the Grog Shop, which being a far smaller venue, was a blast.
